Nio (NYSE: NIO) saw its cumulative battery swap service exceed 70 million, less than four months after passing the 60 million milestone.

The service has cumulatively provided users with more than 3.7 billion kWh of power, which is enough for more than 1.85 million households to use for a year, according to the company.
More Nio drivers are using the battery swap service as their charging of choice. Nearly 60 percent of the power they added to their vehicles came from battery swap stations, according to Nio.
The service has cumulatively saved users about 58.2 million hours compared to using public charging facilities, an average of 124 hours per user, Nio said.
Compared to traditional gasoline vehicles in the same class, the battery swap service has cumulatively saved users about RMB 18.3 billion yuan ($2.5 billion) in energy costs, an average of RMB 39,000 yuan per user, it said.
The cost of battery swap services is only one-tenth of refueling, making travel costs lower, Nio said.
As of now, Nio has 3,239 battery swap stations in China, of which 976 are located along highways, according to its charging map.
It also has 2,756 supercharging stations in China, providing 12,746 superchargers, and 1,724 destination charging stations, providing 13,211 charging piles.
Nio completed its first battery swap station in Shenzhen on May 20, 2018, and has continued to promote the construction of this facility.
It took 29 months to complete the first 1 million battery swaps. On July 4, 2022, the service reached the 10 millionth milestone, four years after the service was first available.
Nio saw its cumulative battery swap service reach the 60 millionth milestone on December 13, 2024.
On March 18, Nio announced a new partnership with its battery supplier CATL (SHE: 300750) to jointly build the world's largest battery swap service network.
