Need a Lumina Z34 Rear Windshield
jonnygreens posted a topic in General
So my rear windshield which was starting to separate came up slightly when I hit a bump driving fast with high winds and the wind caught it and ripped it straight out and flew 20 feet into the air… thankfully everyone was fine, but now I have the terrible task of trying to find another windshield for it… no glass place has sources for it. I’m basically going to have to scour around online and try junkyards I guess. It’s a 1991 Lumina Z34 which I have been working on and wanting to keep it alive and eventually repaint it and all that. I am so bummed and this really set me back. I should have peeled the glass off and reglued it a while ago. It’s my fault. Does anyone have any good info I should know like possible compatibility with other Luminas or W body cars? Advice? Maybe you have one I could buy and pay to be shipped? Anything…. Maybe it would help a lot if there are a few models I could look for that could also fit. ugh… the Z34 lifestyle is rough these days.

Remove Instrument Cluster
55trucker replied to 2005Yukon's topic in General
LOL......what'd the service manual tell you? to get the cluster out remove the top fasteners (you've already done so, tilt the cluster forward to you, those 2 pins seat into 2 horizontal recesses, the backside of the recess is curved shaped the same as the pins ,pull upwards (vertical) on the cluster to release the pins.

Remove Instrument Cluster
94 olds vert replied to 2005Yukon's topic in General
I've never removed a cluster on 1995 CSC. I've removed many of the early model clusters and never had an issue. Is all gauge cluster trim removed? Sometimes tilting the steering wheel all the way down is needed for clearance. It shouldn't be too hard to remove especially with the bolts removed. I wouldn't tug too hard in fear of breaking something. I would carefully pull on it in a few different directions and hopefully you will feel it move. I would think there is a white/black peg that comes up through the hole that didn't have the screw so the cluster is centered. If so you'll need to get clearance on that first, then I'm thinking it must rotate along on those lower pegs you circled. Then pull out. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. But just take your time with it. If it's been in there 30 years it might just be a little stuck.

Remove Instrument Cluster

1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible Is there some "secret" to getting the gauge cluster out?? I bought this replacement but can't get the original (which looks identical) out. I got the 2 screws out (top left/right) but see no other screws. Do you pry out the 2 things circled in blue??? Do you just tug and twist (already scraped up the knuckles!).

My suggestion to you is to do all you can to stay with a replacement LQ1, if you choose to do otherwise you'll have to deal with the electronic side of the issue. For '91 the trans behind the LQ1 is the 4t60-e, now that may not seem to be much of a concern but the ECM in the car is programmed for the LQ1 & the 4t60-e. You look to drop in another engine of choice & now you have to reprogamme the ECM to accommodate that replacement engine. The mem-cal inside the ECM housing is specific to the LQ1 for that year & that trans.

Which engines are compatible for my 1991 Z34 lumina
jiggity76 replied to Anthonydav07's topic in General
If you care about originality and how the motor looks to be correct for a 1991 LQ1 car, you would want to stay within the 91-92 model year. You can use a 93 motor as well but the dipstick and tube is the only part that is a lot of work to swap over. 1991-1992 Lumina Z34, (standard with the LQ1). 1992 Lumina Euro 3.4, (standard with the LQ1). 1991-1992 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, (standard with the LQ1). SE, GT, STE trim, (when optioned with the LQ1). 1991-1992 Cutlass Supreme coupe or sedan, (when optioned with the LQ1). ANY W body that has an X in the 8th place of the VIN will have the LQ1. Now...if you don't care about how correct the motor looks in the engine bay, you can go outside the 91-93 year range. The 94-95 motors will work but you would have to do some swapping over of parts to make it look correct. Some things are easy, some are not. The 96-97 LQ1's are dramatically different in appearance and functionality/engineering. They will get you more power but again, lots of internal and mechanical differences. These motors are also interference compared to the NON interference motors from 91-95. If you have any other questions, please ask us or you can PM me personally as I've gone in depth with these motors during my cars restoration efforts.

92 Olds cs convertible driver side door handle

Was replacing driver side door handle and door got closed before new one was attached. Now can't get door opened using inside handle and have tried pulling the outside rod using a wire but to no avail. How do I get the door open. Do I need to remove inside door panel to access some release mechanism?

Rear Right Brake Caliper from GM on back order on first generation REGAL’s without sport suspensions.
Nas Escobar replied to 89-W-Body-Regal's topic in Brakes/Suspension/Steering/Wheels/Tires
I've had 2 89s, a 93 and a 94 W body, I've used 2001 Luminas for parts... 88-93 use the "bad rear calipers" and have vacuum and abs issues galore (remember the PM3?) 94-96 (97 for the Cutlass Supreme) have the "upgraded" rear calipers. Mid 95, they upgraded the front rotors by making them an inch larger. The caliper and bracket is the same on the 88-96 1G and 95-99 Monte Carlo/ 95-01 Lumina but the strut perch isn't. The 95 brake upgrade modified the mounting point for the caliper on the perch (it's moved outward a bit). Boosters were also settled by 94 I think . The interesting thing about all this really is that GM downgraded the rear brakes on the Lumina towards the end of the run but also that GM built the Lumina for 2 years for fleet only sales.

Hearing loss is obviously not great! And your condition of Meniere’s is unfortunate indeed. I’m sure you’ve looked at things to help. Are you aware the alpha lipoid acid supplements will help help to protect the hearing in the case of Meniere’s? I wish you the best with this.
