It is hard to go wrong with a piece of pine furniture. Check the workmanship, whether it feels solid, do the doors slide how you want them to? Do you think it will last five years, ten years or does it feel cheap? As long as you feel you are getting your moneys worth for the furniture you can not go wrong. If it isn`t the piece you are looking for keep looking you will find the right one for you.
Just because there are children or grandchildren in the house does not mean there has to be an unsightly toy box in amongst the carefully chosen furniture. Incorporating a toy chest of drawers into the room will keep the toys neat and orderly (even if it is the adults who end up putting them away) and easy to find when the search begins for that favourite toy. Many chests are designed with very deep drawers, in particular at the bottom of the chest ideal for toys and games, with varying depths of drawers as you move up the chest the top level drawers could be used for crayons and paper.
A wooden chest of drawers, if made well, can be reasonably expected to last hundreds of years. That sounds like a much better investment than buying something for half the price, which will last for a much shorter time. A lot of the really cheap mass produced chests on the market can be expected to break in a few years, or even in the same year if asked to hold a heavier load.
